3 signs it's more than a crack

Why it gets worse
Stucco damage grows every time it rains
Stucco looks solid, but it isn't waterproof. A crack lets rain in behind it. On a wood-framed house, that water sits against the wood and rots it. Near the beach, salt air rusts the metal mesh inside the stucco and opens new cracks from the inside.
None of it shows from the yard until it's a stain, a soft spot, or paint bubbling off the wall. And homeowner's insurance usually won't pay for a slow leak. It's written for sudden damage, like a storm. So the small bill is yours now, or the big one is yours later.
